Sponsorship Program

Children in Arusha end up living in poor conditions for reasons beyond their control. Parents of these children may already be struggling to meet their needs, making it hard to also meet their children’s needs. This leaves the child in a position where food, education or shelter is unavailable to them.

Making a difference through TAF costs $30 dollars a month, which is equal to 72,150 Tanzanian shillings, although it will not cover all the expenses at first, we will make sure to prioritize the needs of these children.

Target

The targets for our sponsorship program are children that are in disadvantaged positions. This includes children from poor backgrounds, bad living conditions, homeless children and orphans .

Note: At the moment since it is a new project we are focusing on the kids that attend the day care foundation (12 kids) and in the future we plan to expand it to the kids in the neighborhood as well .

Aims & Objectives

Our aim is to reduce the number of children living on the street and to help them get back into education. We will do this by finding sponsors for the children who need the most help. The sponsorship will cover school meals, lessons, books and pens, school trips, uniform and health insurances. We will also work in partnerships with other organizations to ensure that the children living on the street have shelter.

How will we operate ?

TAF notices families \parents\children that need our support around the neighboorhood and at the foundation . Firstly, a home visit will be arranged to assess the living environment which will be used to decide whether they are illegible for a sponsor. After a home visit, we will prepare profiles on the children in order to find a potential sponsor. Once a sponsor has been found, money will be raised to support the family. Depending on the case, the sponsor will support the child through the day care (2-5 years old) and goverment school (16+) . It’s up to the sponsor to decide whether to continue supporting the child through higher education.

Challenges

One challenge that will face is finding the initial sponsors. We need further expand recognition of this organization so that sponsorship meadiators are able to contact us to help.

What is child sponsorship?

Child sponsorship is a beneficiary way of giving out to the child and community.

Who do we provide help for?

We provide help for kids who live in Tanzania, more specifically from close-by neighborhoods or the kids of the women that come to learn skills at TAF.

How much does it cost to sponsor a child?

Is $30 dollars a month, but if you would like to give more, please contact the foundation for more information and other options.

How long will my sponsorship last?

There is no set sponsorship period, but as a sponsor, you will see a child's development throughout the years. Depending on the case, the sponsor will support the child through daycare (2-5 years old) and government school (16+). It’s up to the sponsor to decide whether to continue supporting the child through higher education.

We also would be more than happy to send pictures and updates on how the kid is doing personally since we depend on volunteers to work on the profiles, so it may not always be up to date.

In case the kid you were the sponsor no longer attends our facility, you are more than welcome to continue and help a new kid.

Why is the cost $30?

We ask the value so the kid is able to get basic needs, food, school supplies, better clothes, and hygiene, and to be able to attend school later on, so we trying to provide lasting support.

What happens if I need to cancel my support?

You can end your sponsorship at any time for any reason. Our project at Tupendande Africa  Foundation allows us to try to find resources to help out the families too. Helping the women means giving a change to the kids as well, so canceling your sponsorship will not cause harm to your sponsored child even though we will be sad seeing you leave, we appreciate the help you were able to offer.

ASANTE SANA-THANK YOU!
